As you said, planning and breaking into small targets saves lot of wondering time. Also it gives you some satisfaction at the end of the day, when you look at your task list. 

However sometimes it becomes harder to make a plan when all of your projects are stuck due to various reasons and not sure how much time you would spent on researching on each. There also we should create a task list, just to maintain the focus.</description>
