Did you have to take a multiplie choice test recently? And yes – nothing is ever totally black & white.

HOWEVER, The answer to “The world is flat” would totally be FALSE.

BUT then – not everyone even believes that… There is the Flat World Society

Here’s a little excerpt from one of their webpages (http://www.alaska.net/~clund/e_djublonskopf/FlatMisStat.htm):

Then, in the year of our Lord fourteen-hundred and ninety-two, it all changed. For decades a small band of self-proclaimed “enlightened” individuals had been spouting their heretical nonsense that the Earth was in fact round. Citing “proof” based on nothing more than assumptions, half-truths and blind guesses, they dazzled the populace with their ” . . . undeniable mathematical and scientific evidence . . . that the world is shaped not like a pancake, but an orange!”

AHAHAHAHA! Wow…. so pancakes were popular in Europe during the fourteen-hundreds… hmmm… now I’m hungry…

Notice I didn’t say ALL answers become “it depends”–just more of them.

But take “flat world”. The earth is sufficiently large that in most places it is flat according to most measurements that are important to us–hence why earlier peoples assumed it was in actuality flat. It all has to do with frame of reference. Globally, the world is…er…a globe. Locally, it is flat. Depending on your purpose, this may be an acceptable definition of a flat world.

Ok – I’m not a physics person or a math person or anything like that – but isn’t the fact that the earth is a globe really important locally when it comes things like… oh… gravity? Is it? You would know more about that than me… I’m really not entirely sure.

But yes – ok you didn’t say ALL just MORE, sorry! but all good points… BUT just because something appears one way doesn’t mean thats really the way it is. Doesn’t that go along with knowing more as well – Knowing that things aren’t always as they seem.
